Worried about how to pay Fluffy's big
veterinary bills?
Over the past decade, animals have become more than just
pets. They are now special members of the family. Their "parents" are
seeking the most advance veterinary care available. Veterinarians
are willing to provide this care, but unfortunately it can be very
expensive. Many of the same treatments available to people are
now available to pets. Many families, however, do not have a
thousand dollars laying around for unexpected veterinary bills.
Planning ahead is essential when thinking about bringing a pet into
your home. Our hospital, as well as most others, do not accept
payments, so here are some commonly available options to help
you pay for these unexpected bills.
Veterinary Pet Insurance
This is where veterinary insurance or a medical savings account is
needed. Below are links to several companies who provide pet
insurance. We recommend researching several different companies,
evaluating you and your pet's needs, and reading the fine print.
There are some conditions that some companies do not cover
including hereditary disorders, and pre-existing conditions. Some
companies also do not cover the all to common repair of a torn ACL
(a $1200-$2500 surgery).

Medical Savings Account
If pet insurance is not for you and your pet, a medical savings
account is a great alternative. Owners can set up a savings account
with their bank. They can put as much money in as often they wish.
Using a savings account owners keep the money they put in every
month instead of giving it to an insurance company. However, if your
pet has an emergency room visit and you have only $100 dollars in
your savings account you could be in trouble!
Care Credit
Care Credit is a credit card available at many veterinary clinics
including Vista Animal Hospital and Westvet Emergency Center. It is
most commonly used for unexpected, expensive veterinary bills. For
